Open call for conference speakers – TAVA16

Tartu Valgus, or “Tartu in Lights” for the non-Estonian speakers, will be the first ever light and art festival to take place in Tartu, Estonia’s second largest city and university hub. Lighting events start from the middle of October 2016.

There will be conference, as a part of the festival, which aims to be a platform for knowledge exchange and inspiration. The one-day conference that is held on Friday the 21st of October 2016, will have 3 different themed sessions throughout the day: light and urban spaces, light and culture, case studies and best practice examples.
Parallel to the conference there will be a fair where manufacturers can showcase their latest products, and where you can get contacts with the industry.

The light festival: The event will take place between 21.-23.10.2016. Several side programs will run from 10.10 till 13.11.2016.

Speakers reimbursement:
100€ for speakers and 250€ for keynote speakers. On top you will receive a two night stay in a hotel in Tartu including breakfast and lunch at the venue. Your will receive a contribution to your travel costs up to 250€ and an entry ticket to the gala and all other TAVA16 events.

All above benefits are per presented paper, regardless of the number of speakers. Authors should prepare their presentations taking into consideration the following time requirements: presented papers will last 40 minutes plus 10 min Q&A.
If you are interested in becoming one of the speakers at the conference, then please submit your abstracts in English (max 400 words), along with a short CV. A portfolio is preferred when you want to speak about your projects.

We are especially looking for residents of the Nordic European countries. We would like this festival to stimulate knowledge exchange and create a network between the creative, architecture and lighting design communities neighboring Estonia.
